has been offering outdoor adventure trips since 1996. Our trips are for people of all ages,
skills, and abilities. Our specialty is introducing the first timer and beginner to the joys of the outdoors. NW Discoveries provides all the planning, logistics, transportation, and experienced leaders to let you discover the wonderful northwestern outdoors.
NW Discoveries offers several hiking programs through Road Scholar, an organization that does educational programs for adults 55 years and older. For more information see our multiple day trip offerings.
We provide a safe and enjoyable adventure where you meet new people, participate in an outdoor activity, and learn about our surroundings. Participants’ safety and satisfaction are our top priorities.
Many of our trips are also available through local recreation districts and colleges. Please register through your local organization if the trip is listed with them; otherwise, feel free to register through us.
Ken Barker, President of NW Discoveries, Guide
Ken has always enjoyed the outdoors whether it was with his family on trips as a child, to his days as a Boy Scout and finally to the present days as a guide for NW Discoveries. In 1996, Ken decided to hang up his environmental engineering hat and pursue his dream of being in the outdoors and started NW Discoveries.
NW Discoveries has become an extended family for Ken, as he continually meets more participants/friends and tries to develop programs that meet the outdoor adventure needs of the Oregon/SW Washington public.
Ken sends out his greetings to all past participants and looks forward to seeing them again and meeting all the new participants that will join NW Discoveries trips in the future.
